Is that possible? If I compare some areas to other runners Leon seems to be running a lot slower and it takes me longer to get through, yet FRAPS tells me It's running at 29 fps at all times. I still get lags and stutters on some FMV sequences and I generally feel like my game runs a tid bit slower. So far, after using 1.1, I found no further issues for myself, nor do I see any fixes. Roo Roo, srwatcher srwatcher and PoopFist PoopFist like this. I agree the console versions are more straight forward and don't really require any tinkering to get things running smoothly and alot of people would probabaly be better off just going with console's to avoid head aches.

Some people have claimed similar things in this thread (specifically the 3rd thing he lists)Ītleast the US PC version has graphics and display options built into the game somewhat similar to bio3 PC, but alot of these old PC versions are quite a mess, re1 pc, re2 pc, gun survivor pc (Chinese). The core problem with RE2 PC ports is those massive slowdowns and speedups everyone experience's from time to time, some people claim when they close or open certain applications the game runs faster, I myself have noticed this on a number of different occasions and not just strictly with biohazard 2, the US PC versions also suffer the same issue, and back then before I even heard of sourcenext the fix was to either use window's media player to loop a video while playing the game, or for some reason having oldschool MSN chat application open, would seem to make the game run at a regular frame rate, I used to use Xsplit in the past before obs was a thing, and noticed alot of this going on with xsplit (my game would run better with xsplit running) There was a period of time when i played the game mostly on a 32bit version of windows 7, and FMV's would not display at all, i would just get black screens during the time they are supposed to process but never seen any fmv's at all, it wasn't until i tried a 64bit version of windows 7 where i noticed i got FMV's to display correctly despite using the exact same hardware setup, in both cases it was still possible to just disable the fmv's through the registry anyways and there is a couple people i know who started getting those nasty direct x errors while updating from windows 8 to 8.1, obviously newer operating system's and certain hardware/driver setups aren't always compatible with older games like these Playing the game on different operating systems: Since were talking about bio2 pc issues (there is indeed alot of them, sometimes i wonder why we play this game myself)
You basically use windows registry to locate the bio2 keys, and change the sound frequency value down to 44100hz instead of 48000hz, I've never had the need to try this myself but someone has claimed it as a fix refer to this imageĪlso notice their is a few other sound related registry keys that might be worth fiddling around with those that have these type of issues. To help fix the sound buffer error's that are thrown during the in game event sequences.

exe in the re2 resources section so that people don't have to use the 1.1 patch anymoreĪbout the sound issue this was explained by another user back on the older forum we had
Resident evil 2 sourcenext how to#
I won't post the exact instructions on how to fix the direct x error manuallyīut i will just provide a patched. Most people use this 1.1 patch in order to bypass the direct x message box that is thrown when trying to run the exe, we can fix the z buffer issue manually and not have the patch automatically invoke step 1, so basically I woulden't use the 1.1 patch anymore, I don't advise anyone to use the 1.1 patch, my experience with it I felt more prone to the sound issues.

Here's what i know about the 1.1 patch, it does 2 things that im aware of:ġ) shifts an entire block of memory + 60 offsets/address's ahead, hence why i made 2 versions of the game timer, to support both versions.Ģ) it patches the games z-depth buffer from 32bit to 24 bit beceause modern video cards/drivers don't support 32 bit
